ABOUT

Gina Pravata Schwenck

On stage and in film, Gina has been a critical part of the wardrobe department in assisting, designing, and organizing costumes for an eclectic mix of plays, short and feature films. Through these endeavors, she has enjoyed seeing her visions come to fruition, no matter if it was a quick-change in theatre or in the wardrobe department behind the scenes.

Gina has acquired a unique skill set that brings leadership, domain knowledge of fabric content and care, as well as expertise in pressing and stain removal to the forefront of the wardrobe industry. Aspiring to bridge the gap between her previous experience, with many years of experience in the dry cleaning industry, to her work in Theatre and Film.

Off stage, she has been commissioned to develop costumes for private clientele, parties and events. In her spare time she enjoys long walks, journaling, crafting unique gifts, crocheting ponchos & shawls. But what brings her balance in this fast paced, exciting world behind the scenes and backstage, besides the love and joy from her beautiful son, is her practice and love of Reiki and Yoga.

Gina's Note

Simply put: I do costumes!

And have been hand sewing costumes for my son since he was two (he’s now much older) Born into a family of artists and creatives, it’s no wonder this is the direction my life has taken me

From the moment I experienced my very first quick-change in local theatre with a hoop skirt and all that goes with it, I was consumed with panic and fear that this lovely actress should step out onto the stage half dressed. I reached down into my reserve to focus my mind at the task at hand and with a final relief and heart pounding joy, all was a success and the transformation unbelievably gratifying.

I knew then this is where I would find my true happiness.

Since that day, I have been dressing, stitching, organizing, laundering, pressing, painting, distressing and perfecting costumes and wardrobe for Theatre and Film.

Drawing from my innate drive, perseverance, determination, resourcefulness, networking and ability to create and dream, I invite you to review my work.

I make your production look fabulous even on a budget!!

Enjoy!
